Directions

Refer to the bead diagram to complete your panda. You will be working with the beads in the middle of the rattail and using both ends of the rattail to string the beads together. Crossing through each other means to go through the beads again with the other end of the rattail and in the opposite direction. The result will have each end of the rattail coming out form opposite ends. This secures the design. You will be working on the design from the bottom up.

In the instructions, LEFT End or RIGHT END, refers to the end of the rattail direction that is coming out of the bead after completing a step. Therefore, the actual ends interchange throughout the weaving process.

1) To start, string 7 white pony beads to the center of the rattail.

2) To create row #2, take the left hand rattail end, string on 2 white, 3 pink and then 2 more white pony beads.

3) To complete row #2, take the right hand rattail end and cross through the 2 white, 3 pink and 2 white pony

beads. The left and right ends should be coming out of opposite ends of the second row of beads. Add one white

bead to each end to complete the second row.

4) To create row #3, take the left end, add 2 white, 1 pink, 3 white, 1 pink and 2 white pony beads.

5) To complete row #3, take the right end and cross through the 2 white, 1 pink, 3 white, 1 pink and 2 white pony beads. Add one white pony bead to each end to complete row 3.

6) To create row #4, take the left end and add 1 white, 2 black, 2 white, 1 black, 2 white, 2 black and 1 white pony beads.

7) To complete row #4, take the right end and cross through the 1 white, 2 black, 2 white, 1 black, 2 white, 2 black and 1 white pony beads.

8) To create row #5, take the left end and add 1 white, 4 black, 1 white, 4 black and 1 white pony beads. Take the right end and cross through all of the added beads to complete row #5.

9) To create row #6, take the left end and add 2 white, 1 black, 1 green, 1 black, 1 white, 1 black, 1 green, 1 black and 1 white pony beads.

10) Take the right end and add 1 white pony bead then cross through the 1 white, 1 black, 1 green, 1 black, 1 white, 1 black 1 green, 1 black and 1 white pony bead to complete row #6. NOTE: You are not crossing through the last white pony bead in this row.

11) To create row #7, take the left end and add 1 white, 3 black, 1 white, 3 black and 1 white pony beads. Take the right end and cross through all of the added pony beads to complete row #7.

12) To complete the panda, you will be stringing top row of the head as well as the ears together.

      a) Take the left end and add 1 black, 7 white and 1 black pony beads. Take the right end and cross through all of the added pony beads.

      b) Still holding the right end, add 2 black, 1 pink and 4 black pony beads. Now come through these added beads again: the second black, 1 pink and 1 black pony bead. This forms the left ear. Tie off the end of the rattail in between adjacent beads and hide the knot as best as you can.

      c) Take the left end and add 2 black, 1 pink and 4 black pony beads. Now come through these added beads: the second added black bead, 1 pink and 1 black bead. Tie off rattail end in between adjacent beads and hide the knot as best as you can.

13) Slip the lanyard hook onto rattail between beads on an ear.
