Directions

Take each of the 6” x 12” cardstock and score at the following intervals, (fig. 1): 2 3/4”, 3 1/4”, 3 3/4” and 9 1/4”
Fold the flaps in at the 3 1/4” and 9 1/4” lines to create the closure to the pages (fig. 2). Fold out at the 2 3/4” to create the gatefold closure (fig. 3).
Open up the flaps of the pages.
Take the 5” x 5 1/2” copy paper printed with the months and center one inside each page. Tape in place. Take 12 cupcake cut-outs and label each one with a month (Jan, Feb, Mar…Dec) using stickers or a marker. Center a cupcake on the opening of each corresponding page. Tape only the left side of the cupcake to the left flap. The cupcakes will help keep the pages closed.
Take one of the 6” x 6” cardstocks and score 1/2” in at the left edge. Take the 5” x 5 1/2” printed cardstock and center on the 6” x 5 1/2” section of the cardstock and tape down for the book’s cover. Take the three cupcakes and write “The” “Birthday” and “Book” on them. Arrange on the cover and tape in place.
Score the other 6” x 6” cardstock 1/2” in from the right side edge. This is the back cover.
Along the 1/2” spine of each page, measure 1” up from the bottom edge and 1” down from the top edge. Punch a hole at each spot. Do the same for the covers.
Assemble the pages between the two covers. Thread at the ribbons through all of the holes and toe securely. Trim ends of the ribbon.
Fill in the pages with people’s birthdays.
